Influence of the Muslim Brotherhood on government policies has direct effects on the successfulness of a country’s policy and its War on Terror. In the USA, Brotherhood members have acquired positions in public administration, the national security establishment, interreligious foundations and elsewhere that allow them to have a say on who can work for the government in the field of “War on Terror” and they dictate which issues can be discussed. As Stephen Coughlin noted in this recent book “Catastrophic Failure: Blindfolding America in the Face of Jihad”, it is more important to understand the Islamist enemy’s doctrines than to be politically correct about Islam. Notwithstanding, the Muslim Brotherhood successfully controls the public debate about Islam, even within US-security circles.
Since Islamists stated that their doctrine is based on Jihad, it is unavoidable to incorporate Islamic Law into threat analysis. However, there is no threat analysis compiled by US-security agencies that even deals with Islam or Jihad. The central reason for this ignorance is the Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration of state institutions.
According to a memorandum the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood is the elimination of the Western civilization from within in order to establish the global Islamic state. The document names several groups associated with the Brotherhood such as the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Muslim Student Association (MSA), the Muslim Communities Association (MCA) as well as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). Organizations including MSA and CAIR wrote a letter to President Obama’s Deputy National Security Adviser, John Brennan, in 2011 requesting him to take action against government training materials such as an FBI training manual that allegedly demonstrate a prejudice against Islam. This incident is only one of many that prove that Muslim Brotherhood affiliated groups receive information from within state institutions and try to exercise direct influence on the policies of the USA.
