On November 11, Breitbart.com announced the publication of a report by Sharia Watch UK that highlighted a number of individuals who infiltrated British universities, schools and NGOs and are even advising British politicians on Islamic affairs and foreign policy issues. Breitbart.com has revealed some individuals who were to be mentioned in the report:
Hamza Tzortzis, an activist with the Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA) and a former member of the hardline Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir
Haitham al-Haddad is a “judge” at the Islamic Sharia Council in east London
Yusuf Chambers is an activist and founding member of the Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA). He supports the death penalty for homosexuality and death-by-stoning for adultery.
Azzam Tamimi is a strong supporter of Hamas who has repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel.

Sometimes we have to leave it up to history to show how lazy the majority of politicians appear to be when it comes to hold up our western values against intolerant and extremist voices. Already back in the year 2003 an MP urged the fellow colleagues to take a closer look on several activists with close ties to extremists or even terrorist organisations like Hamas. On December 18, 2003, a member of parliament, Louise Ellman, raised the issue of connections between the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) and the Muslim Brotherhood. She said: “It is time that the spotlight fell on the Muslim Association of Britain, particularly the key figures, such as Azzam Tamimi, Kamal el Helbawy, Anas Al-Tikriti and Mohammed Sawalha. All of them are connected to the terrorist organisation Hamas. The Muslim Association of Britain itself is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, an extremist fundamentalist organisation founded in Egypt in 1928, and the spiritual ideologue of all Islamic terror organisations. It is militantly anti-Semitic and always has been…”
“…Azzam Tamimi often appears in the media, representing the Muslim Association of Britain. He is an adviser to Hamas in the Middle East. In 1991, when he lived in Jordan, he was the official spokesperson of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic Action Front. He worked for the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood between 1989 and 1992. When he came to London, he continued his activities. He openly supports Palestinian suicide bombers.”
Ms. Ellman’s comments were reported the following day in The Guardian newspaper. Azzam Tamimi claimed: “I challenge her to say these things outside parliament and I will take her to court.” Ms. Ellman repeated her assertions outside of parliament, and no legal action was taken against her .
Since this time not much has happened. The same people are still around and spread their message, sometimes – of course – they took advantage of new platforms or new institutions. This does not make a substantial difference, we guess…
In the recent past, The Cordoba Foundation has had a couple of dubious connections. For instance, in October 2011, it was to organize an event with the London Muslim Centre, launching two bits of research into “Islamophobia”. The event had to be cancelled on short notice, however, because one of the key speakers, Robert Lambert, had been unmasked as a police spy, who had spent 5 years infiltrating a non-violent Green anarchist group, during the course of which, he had a relationship with a completely politically uninvolved woman, who he wooed by pretending to be an animal rights activist on the run.
One year earlier, Bob Lambert hat appeared on the Iranian channel Press TV where he defended the eminent preacher Yusuf Qaradawi who is usually regarded as close to the Muslim Brotherhood and who is banned from entering the UK. Robert Lambert is allegedly also working for the European Muslim Research Centre at the University of Exeter.
